The brief

I was commissioned by a New York family to create something completely unique for their bathroom. They wanted to include each family members favorite animal: a hyena, horse, beaver, turtle, lion, puma, sparrow and more! Then, to also include wildflowers such as poppies and daisies. At first, I thought the brief was challenging- these animals don’t naturally exist together, and I wasn’t sure how it would all coexist. However, working with a limited colour scheme it all started to make sense.

I painted this bathroom mural in upstate New York over four days, and was able to include their youngest daughter in the process adding the dots onto the poppies.
